On the way back home, I noticed a massive signboard. It was about the Ford Ranger EV (Plugin) coming soon in 2025.

I find it quite strange. Does Ford tell us not to buy their current Ranger model? Are they delaying the demand? I am not sure what their message is up to 2025.

Organisations tend to follow a similar communication style in-house, too. I see many organisations specifying the technology roadmap years in advance. It is great to communicate what a company is planning. But what are the company’s plans and expectations in the short to medium term? If we leave everything to the future, the present can be a big void, leading to a painful future. We need our long-term plan and the strategy to get there. It will then provide clear direction, focus, and attention in the present, supporting our future plan.

So, consider providing clarity on present and near-future plans and actions leading up to a long-term vision! We need a balance of vision and action.
