Any substantial change is full of risks. If things go pear-shaped, an executive is ultimately accountable. However, if things go well, you will likely give credit to the transformation team. So, if you plan to sponsor or lead a transformation within your organisation, be fully aware of what you are signing up for.
On the way, staff, board members, customers, and other stakeholders may get upset. You are not on this journey to keep everyone happy. You are on this journey to lead change and make a difference. The journey of change leadership is unlikely to be easy. You are unlikely to get credit. So, take time, research, and internalise what you are signing up for.
