The resistance to change can be for good reasons. The Change Managers often assume to be on the right side and driving the change. However, they could well be wrong.
Quite possibly, change resistance can be for good reasons! People may have rational grounds to resist the change.
Change Managers and Project teams must listen with an open heart. They should make a good assessment if the resistance is for the right reasons.
Change Management must start with empathy, and intentional listening should never stop!
Let us never pretend that we know it all and if our job is to sell change to the business. The fact is that change resistance can be for good reasons! So, let us be more humble, nimble and thoughtful about assessing the reasons for the Change resistance.
