How experienced are you in Project Management?
I have ten years of Project Management experience.
The above response only tells us that someone has spent ten years managing projects. It is not an accurate measure of their experience. The experience is what and how much you have learnt.
As a sponsor, you will be forming the project team. Don’t confuse someone’s experience with the count of their grey hairs. Instead, judge what they have learnt, their temperament, behaviour and how they can add value to your project.
We should all ask this question to ourselves: are we gaining experience or merely getting old?
