Why are organisations stuck with manual information processing?
Why do employees copy and paste information into multiple spreadsheets, manipulate data, and handwrite forms?
Even if the company has Business systems, why do employees not fully utilise them? Instead, they tend to create their own manual processes.
Well, there is no one reason for this phenomenon. However, one of the core reasons appears to be that we are lazy by design.
So, rather than learning the new Business system, it is easy to create little process outside the system. The same applies to employees responsible for entering quality data into the system, training new staff, and governing the upgrades and process changes in the Business systems.
These things do not happen naturally. They only occur if the leader sets expectations with the staff. If we let it loose, we will see that things start falling out of order quickly!
