Do You Know the motive behind undertaking the given task?

Home, Leadership

You and I can work on the same thing, but with a very different approach. Our approach can depend on our previous experience, education, background, and various other factors. In my experience, the key differentiator in the approach is our motive behind undertaking the given task.

For example, two soldiers may be fighting for very different reasons. One to feed his family and the other to uplift his family’s honour. Their approach to battleground is likely to be different.

Similarly, two managers may have a different approach to providing feedback to their staff. The ego and pride can drive one, and others may genuinely care for their staff.

I find it very interesting to see individuals’ hidden motives and drivers and how they influence their approach. People with higher motives tend to do honourable things and formulate a high-value-added approach.
