To me, professional suicide is when we say to ourselves the following:
- I am enough!
- I know it all!
- These people are so dumb!
- I am on top of the food chain!
- I am CXO for a reason!
Basically, professional suicide is when we stop learning from the position of pride. So, we say to ourselves that we know it all.
Rather than self-evaluation, we focus on fault finding in others. As we move above the hierarchies in corporate work, our domain expands but knowledge in given areas always remains limited. For example, as a CEO responsible for the overall business we cannot claim to have an in-depth understanding of the entire company’s processes.
It is time for some self-assessment!
I really hope you are not committing professional suicide!
