Enterprise software (ERP/CRM) projects are already too complex and expensive. Consultants who implement these software projects are often paid by the hour /day. So, their incentive is based on the amount of time they work. Their internal incentives (bonuses and promotions) are based on their billable percentage.
So, more work is good for them, but not for you (Project Sponsor).
The question is: how are we incentivising the resources that are simplifying the scope? How are we identifying individuals who cut waste, keep meetings short, and work more efficiently? How do we recognise consultants who make reasonable suggestions not to roll out additional features and functionality (keep it simple)?
In other words, what are we doing to promote simplicity and rationality in enterprise software projects?
