We may have no idea about art, but we may not hesitate to tell an artist where to improve. We can have strong opinions about the look and feel of the software but no clue about user experience. Yet, we tell designers how to design all the time!

As decision-makers/executives, we try to demonstrate who we are by telling everyone what to do, providing critique, and asking for minor changes. The question that we should ask ourselves is what value I am adding to the conversation, process or project!

Do I need to listen more than speak? We do not need to prove that we are right all the time.
