Every activity and venture involves risk. Everything from breathing to sitting on a plane has risks. For a few of us, every risk makes us paranoid, while others tend to be too optimistic.
Both extremes are equally dreadful. On one extreme, knowledge of risks restricts our actions. On the other hand, blind optimists lead to rash decisions, assuming we continue to be lucky.
Risk management is not a discipline for projects, works, or any specific departments. Risk Management is a discipline for everyone who is breathing. This discipline teaches us how to keep going and be mindful of actively exploring, monitoring, and managing risks.
So, outsourcing or labelling risk management as another department’s responsibility will not help. We all must take charge.
