We all make sacrifices for various reasons. Some of us sacrifice time to earn more money, while others give up money to gain more time. We might also sacrifice our resources for justice, status, legacy, or other goals.
Often, we aren’t fully aware of what we’re sacrificing and why. Moreover, we seldom consciously decide whether our sacrifices are worth it, rarely setting boundaries or recognising when to cut our losses.
It’s crucial to be mindful of our decisions about committing resources to a cause. Understanding the underlying reasons for our commitments (e.g., justice, pride, and legacy) and when to stop commitments and identify our investment in the cause as sunk costs are essential.
