Your objective is not to follow the prescribed Project plan. Instead, it is to ensure to return value to the business as per the Business case.
Don’t shy away from delaying planned milestones and replanning the project under new information. After all, the project’s purpose is not to achieve all planned milestones. Instead, it is returning value on the capital expenditure.
