You may have come across many labels, like:
‘99% fat-free’ on a juice bottle.
‘Dermatologist tested’ on skin care products.
‘Low carb’ on cheese products.
These marketing labels are always true and misleading at the same time.
Similarly, the software industry has a few pet marketing labels:
AI-enabled, Cutting edge technology, Implementation experts, Enterprise-Grade Security, Cloud-Based, Fully Customisable, End-to-End Solution, Real-Time Analytics, User-Friendly Interface, Scalable Solution, Seamless Integration and many more.
These may all be true and misleading at the same time. During procurement, it becomes our responsibility to get to the bottom of these claims, and our biases do not impact our decisions.
Our biases affect our decisions more often than we may think or acknowledge.
