We often debate ways of working (methodologies, processes, procedures, and rituals).

Here are a few points to consider:

  • The ways we worked before may no longer serve us well.
  • Two distinct ways can be equally valid.
  • Hybrid ways (the amalgamation of two ways) may serve us well.
  • Our two ways (under debate) may be one; the problem may be understanding each other.

The key message is to have an open mind about ways of working.

However, it would help if we watched the intent of the proposed approach very closely. Suppose the intent of the proposed ways of working is personal gain, popularity, or a bonus. In that case, it will likely be a good candidate for our investigation. So, we may want to understand the intent behind the suggestion before evaluating it.
