We See More of What we Seek!

Decision making

The last post covered the fact that we all see the world differently. Adding to the observation, we see more of what we seek.

We can be inclined to look for something. Our interests, backgrounds, or objectives may inspire these inclinations.

For example:

A technology consultant may specifically look for business problems and link them with a lack of technology. However, an HR consultant may look for more and more people-related issues. A Process improvement expert may spot opportunities for process improvements everywhere.

All of them may be right in their findings and recommendations. It is simply because we see more of what we are looking for.

While driving, my daughter sees too many yellow cars (and shouts out Spotto) for the same reason!
