Our decisions around how we spend time and resources during production are shaped by availability. When stock and resources are abundant and there’s no time pressure, we naturally lean towards seeking perfection. But when time and resources are limited, we tend to strip away non-essential processes and focus only on what truly matters.
These constraints work in our favour. When we deliberately limit time and resources—but maintain high quality standards—we’re compelled to find smarter, more innovative ways to deliver greater value with less.
It’s not an impossible task. As executives, we must challenge our teams to rise to the occasion, condition for this mindset, and back them wholeheartedly along the way.
