When we plough our fields, recognising weeds is essential. They steal our resources and limit our true potential.
The reason weeds survive is often deceptive. They trick us into believing we are gaining something from them. They blend with the main crop, and we keep feeding them. Sometimes we even recognise them, yet allow them to thrive because they offer us temporary pleasures.
Some examples of weeds in our lives:
- Shopping as leisure – Buying what we don’t need.
- Greed – Chasing more money when we already have enough.
- Excessive saving – Hoarding wealth but never learning to spend on ourselves.
- Slander – Feeding the ego by speaking behind someone’s back.
- Overeating – Eating for comfort, boredom, or impulse rather than hunger or nutrition.
The danger is clear: if left unchecked, weeds will overpower the main crop—our true purpose in life. While we work hard and stay busy, we must also pause to identify and uproot the weeds, keeping them in check so the crop of our life can flourish.
