Business and IT strategies are most common in organisations. So the question is, why do we only worry about Business and IT strategy? Is that all we need?

Why don’t we look at strategy with a broader context?

How about:

  • Strategy for Customers?
  • Strategy for Employees?
  • Strategy for Procurement?
  • Strategy for Regulators?
  • Strategy for supporting functions like HR, Finance (not just IT)?

Perhaps we should have a strategy for all attributes of the business. However, these strategies must support the overall Business strategy.

Then, Digital Transformation initiatives help manifest all the strategies into reality through automation, where possible. This is how we take the organisation to the next level. Therefore, encourage the business to develop a strategy for all business attributes (not jus IT).
