Find ways to stay in control!

Leadership

Not every problem is our problem. However, we may be impacted by problems caused by others’ actions or inactions. We can choose to point fingers and wait for others to solve problems that affect us. But by doing so, we give away control over our own fate. Perhaps, a better approach is to find alternative ways to navigate the problem, ensuring we remain in control. We actively steer the situation to make a difference.

Here are a few examples to illustrate this:

  • While the software vendor resolves the issue, we devised an alternative process as a workaround.
  • The government wasn’t going to support my education, so I started saving when I was 11.
  • While it’s impossible to keep the house spotless with kids around, I keep my study clean, hoping it sets an example.

The key is that when solving the problem is out of reach, we don’t let others steer us. We find ways to stay in control.
