There may be nothing inherently special about specialty coffee, high tea, or a luxury watch. What we’re really paying for is the feeling of something different. Our minds tend to label that difference as special—perhaps to justify the cost.
But the same magic can be found in ordinary moments: flying paper kites with kids, chatting by the water cooler, or simply doing nothing at home. These can become extraordinary, if we choose to see them that way—like becoming kids again, calling it “water cooler therapy,” or enjoying a “work detox.”
Life doesn’t hand us happiness in neatly wrapped packages. Often, it’s hidden in the simple things—we just have to name it, notice it, and let it count.
