We have a natural inclination and interest in learning certain subjects. However, our teacher can drastically change our interests. For example, I may hate history, but I may develop a genuine interest in learning because my history teacher helps me to relate to it. Similarly, I may lose interest in maths if my calculus teacher continues to talk to the whiteboard and walls.
It is the influence of the domain leaders that motivates us to change.
When planning for significant transformation, we want all senior leaders to work together and lead from the front. The success of transformation depends on collaboration within the senior executive team. Naturally, there are conflicting priorities, differences in opinions and stress.
In my experience, it is the leadership of the Sponsor that influences the senior executives to persevere through the transformation!
