There is real power in knowing ourselves and having an open mind.
Knowing who we are. Our values. Our goals. Why those goals matter. What we will negotiate on—and what we will never compromise. The price we are willing to pay for our aspirations.
Everything else is just narrative—stories we invent to prove we were right.
When I know myself fully, decisions become simple. I no longer chase shiny objects or get lost in short-term pleasures. And even if I do, I do it consciously.
A gym owner may sell me the dream of a six-pack, wrapped in the narrative of “good health.” But if I already know my health goal is strength and flexibility, then the six-pack story no longer hooks me.
Every salesperson sells a narrative. And we, too, consume by telling ourselves a story. Change the story, and we change the choice.
That is why in leadership, in business, and in life, the straightest path begins with self-knowledge. Further, an open mind adjusts when needed, seeks help when required, and invests wisely for the future.
Because when we know ourselves deeply, the world can no longer sell us a dream we don’t truly want.
