With every response, we are either being lifted up or dragged down from our intellectual level. When I retaliate blindly to teach others a lesson, I lose immediately, as they succeed in pulling me down to their level. But when I return kindness, I win, having elevated myself to their intellectual height. In every interaction, my responses either raise or lower me.
I should continue to flourish by carefully choosing my reactions.
