No one wants to be in pain. However, if you are in pain for a long time, you slowly get used to it. After some time, you even do not feel pain. It is because you have adapted to living with pain.
The pain is still there, but you have adapted to living with it. There is nothing wrong with it. Sometimes we don’t have an option. So, we learn to live with it.
This observation is equally valid in the Business world too. Often the staff is so used to undertaking unnecessary manual steps. It is terrible to see human effort wasted copying data from one spreadsheet to another. But, the person doing it every day is so used to it that they do not feel any pain.
So, as an executive, if you hear your staff saying they are happy with current processes, then be cautious. Make sure your team is not getting used to living with pain!
