Alcohol, drugs, and other substances that can alter your state of mind are just one form of poisonous consumption. They are substances, and excessive intake is called substance abuse.
However, we are exposed to many other forms of poisonous consumption. The following are just a few examples:
- Speeches or thoughts that segregate us into groups.
- Self-promotion that leads us to believe we are superior or others are inferior.
- Marketing that manipulates our emotions to make us consume more than we need.
- Media that values being cool over being humble.
We are surrounded by numerous poisons, and if we’re not careful, they have the potential to destroy us.
