There are plenty of smart people around. They may work hard, get things done, and remain focused, but they may don’t always have the right intent to serve. Some may carry hidden agendas, prioritising personal gain over collective success. These individuals can quickly earn trust and manipulate situations to achieve their own goals.
The challenge is that when we trust others, we often overlook questioning their intentions. Over time, this leads to a situation where we lose, and they win.
As leaders, hiring smart people isn’t enough. We must seek individuals who not only possess intelligence and capability but also align with our values and have a genuine intent to serve selflessly.
