The good old ways: Message to executives.

Leadership, Local Government

The good old ways have always been working and may continue to work. But that is no reason to avoid change. If those methods take enormous time and resources yet deliver little value, then as leaders, we must take the initiative to transition to better ways of working.

The journey to embrace these new ways will not be an easy one. We will encounter unknowns, face challenges, navigate through confusion and resistance, and at times, we will fail and need to begin again. But as leaders, we don’t take this path for glory or recognition—we take it because it is the right path for our organisation.

With limited resources, tight budgets, and strict timelines, the road ahead will demand perseverance. Yet, despite these constraints, we must push forward, becoming more resourceful and creative in our pursuit of progress. By finding and embracing new ways of working, we ensure not only the survival but the growth and resilience of our organisation.
