My rational mind looks for win-win scenarios—situations where everyone benefits from a given transaction. But in reality, win-win only works when the people involved are rational. And unfortunately, rational thinkers are becoming a rare breed.
To truly move people to action, a win-win isn’t enough. We need emotional triggers: urgency, scarcity, and exclusivity. Messages like “Act now or miss out,” “Limited-time offer,” or “This is a handpicked opportunity” tap into the what’s in it for me mindset. We need to show people how taking action will make them look smart, successful—even like winners in the eyes of others.
Maybe that’s why some of the best ideas in the world gather dust in executive folders. And maybe that’s why society often sidelines those who are ahead of their time.
We all love to talk about change resistance—but few of us are truly ready to live the change.
