I may like to think I possess a high level of social intelligence. In conversations, I choose my words carefully, dress appropriately, pay attention to how I speak—my pace and tone—and use body language that suits the moment.
But if I’m pretending to be nice, it quickly becomes hard work—and others can sense it. We’re not just physical beings going through the motions; we’re energy, too.
It’s far easier for me to be honest—with myself and with others. When I work in good faith and avoid manipulation, things flow more naturally. People can feel sincerity. My honesty builds trust. And when people trust me, it’s much easier to hold their hand—figuratively or literally—and share what needs to be said.
