Maslow helped humanity with a simple triangle of needs: physiological, safety, social, esteem, and finally, self-actualisation.
Logically, once food, water, and shelter are met, we move toward safety. With safety comes the space for deeper relationships, confidence, and eventually a higher purpose. The secret is knowing when we have “enough” at one level so we can climb to the next.
In practice, though, many of us stay stuck at the bottom. We never feel content with the basics. We keep chasing more, promising ourselves that one day we’ll look for purpose. We work only for money instead of passion. We settle for shallow conversations instead of real connection. And then we wonder why life feels empty.
The chase for “more” keeps us trapped. Contentment sets us free. Only when we choose “enough” can we find the courage to reach for what truly matters—the higher levels of Maslow’s triangle.
So, the real question is: are you chasing more, or ready to move up?
