Abundant resources do not always give us the results we expect.
We often complain about lacking money, people, technology, government support, political stability, and countless other factors that feel like constraints. Yet, when resources become abundant, life does not necessarily get easier. Abundance comes with its own challenges—sometimes even more complex than scarcity.
Consider these examples:
- Social media has not deepened our connections. If anything, it has weakened them—people sitting at the same table often feel further apart.
- Wealth has not made people happier. Depression and anxiety actually rise with higher Human Development Index (HDI).
- Abundant nutritious food has not made us healthier. Instead, overeating has given us obesity and diabetes.
- Fast fashion has not made us more stylish. It has stripped away taste for good design, quality, and timeless standards.
The lesson is simple: more is not always better. Abundance alone does not bring meaning or substance. Presence of mind, mindfulness, and discipline do.
True freedom is not in having more—it is in knowing what you truly need.
So, the next time you wish for more resources, pause. Think instead about being resourceful and focused with what you already have. That shift will not limit your goals—it will sharpen your ability to achieve them.
Abundance will never set you free—clarity and discipline will.
It is not an easy path, though, but one that would be worth it!
