We may want to think of ourselves as logical and rational human beings. It is far from reality, however. The fact is that we blindly follow the narrative set by the first person telling the story. If the same narrative is told repeatedly, the firmer our belief becomes. Finally, we start to think of it as a truth.
If you disagree, then look back at history. Observe how media make us believe about weapons of mass distraction in Iraq. As individuals, we do not search for truth. Instead, we trust what is said to us multiple times is the truth.
Back to the project’s world, pay attention to the narratives being set. Try to get different perspectives. Do not assume the story that is being told is complete. Remember, the person who tells their story first, repeatedly to the most people, wins!
As a decision maker, it is your responsibility to gain perspectives and uncover the truth. Be a seeker of truth!
